September 1, 2005
I
hope everyone had a great summer. Most kids are now back in school and
life will be getting back to normal.... except for mine. My son just got
his driver's license and I just got the insurance bill. Talk about sticker
shock! I am afraid life won't ever be normal again. Anyway, lets
talk about what's coming up in the CHMM world.
Next Chapter Meeting
Mark your calendars for the next Queen City ACHMM Chapter meeting on
Tuesday, September 13 at 6pm. Details can
be found here.
Please RSVP by
sending me an email note
note no later than
Friday, September 9, 2005.
This will be a very important meeting as we will accept nominations for 2006
officers and explain the election process. We need a strong and
diverse leadership on the board, so be thinking about how you can serve.
Our
recent
poll about educational topics indicates that most chapter members are
interested in emergency response. Therefore the presentation at the
9/13 chapter meeting will be about an emergency response to a large
hazardous waste incinerator incident and the Graniteville, SC chlorine leak.
This should be a very interesting presentation.
National ACHMM Conference
This year's
National ACHMM Conference is called "Gateway to the Future of EHS Management". The
conference will be held in St. Louis, Missouri on September 25-29. Here's
is a link to the conference web site
and a link to the conference
brochure. I would like for our chapter to
be well represented. I know of at least 4 who have told me they plan to
attend. It's not too late, so please consider attending if you can.
We submitted our chapter web site for "Web Site of the Year" award, so
hopefully will bring back an award!
SPAM I
recently ran a test of using our online email distribution program and asked
you to reply if you got the test note. It appears that most everyone
got the test message. I fixed a few glitches with email changes.
There are a couple of things you should do to ensure you receive the chapter
newsletter with no problems.
-
If you change your email, please inform us at
info@queencitychmm.org
-
If you are running an anti-SPAM software, please
add queencitychmm.org to your "white list". This will tell your
anti-SPAM software that you want to receive email from us and therefore it is
not SPAM. How you do this will vary depending on which anti-SPAM
software you are using. Consult your anti-SPAM software technical
support if you have problems.
